Blind Faith

I've seen lot of confident posts lately. Posts of support for ideas, people, actions and decisions. Posts that are bold, celebratory, indignantly one-sided, and highly charged. And I get it. It can be good to see action if you feel there has been inaction, to celebrate oversight if you perceive inappropriate moves in the past, or to just love the smell of change in the air.

But I wonder. Behind that brave bravado in your post, is there also a seed of doubt?

A whisper of worry?

A consideration of impact?

Do you debate with yourself about how these actions might impact the humans around you? Maybe the grandparent who relies on federal aid and medical coverage. Perhaps the college student who might need the loans.

Do you wonder how YOU will be impacted? Will you be able to retire at the same time as you thought if some of these services are gone? Will there be research ready for the disease that might be in your future? Will you be able to cheer when actions start to impact your life, not just the lives of others?

Perhaps I don't have enough faith, or just an excess of doubt. Perhaps I spend too much time thinking about the human impact that extends from our actions. Perhaps my tendency to carefully consider actions before taking them has resulted in excess of worry when I don't see this occurring.

Or maybe, it's good to listen to that seed of doubt.

That whisper of worry.

The consideration of impact.

There is one thing I have found to be true of BLIND faith;

It does not take the time to truly SEE.

It's time to open our eyes.
